Local green spaces

The Open Spaces Society published its Charter for Open Spaces (England) (August 2020).

Charter for Open Spaces (England) (August 2020)

We have robust policies in place for the protection of Green Space. Please see Policy CP12(d) of the current  Local Plan: Core Strategy (pdf / 3 MB).

The Local Plan is currently under review. As part of this, a consultation ran for the designation of Local Green Spaces between 30 May and 9 August 2019.

121 areas of land were submitted as part of the process and 77 met the criteria to be designated as a Local Green Space.

The designation of land as local green space gives communities the opportunity to identify and protect green areas of particular importance, subject to meeting the criteria as set out within the National Planning Policy.
