Strategic housing market assessment

The 2021 Scarborough borough strategic housing market assessment provides the latest available evidence to help to shape the future planning and housing policies of the area.

The study will help to inform the review of our local plan. This research provides an up-to-date analysis of the social, economic, housing and demographic situation across the area. In particular, the strategic housing market assessment considers the housing market area of Scarborough borough, and the level of housing need including market housing, affordable tenures, older person accommodation, accessible housing and other requirements.

The findings from the study provide an up-to-date, robust and defensible evidence base for policy development which conforms to the government’s National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and National Planning Practice Guidance (NPPG).

In addition to the strategic housing market assessment evidence on older person accommodation requirements and the public rental sector are available to view and download at the bottom of this page.
