Medical permits

If you currently hold a special carer permit or health emergency badge valid for use in the Scarborough disc zones then these permits will also be valid in the Whitby Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ).

Special carer permit

Special carer permits are available to mobile carers within Whitby's Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ). 

How to apply

To get a permit you will need to provide a letter from your employer proving that you are a mobile care worker. Your application should also include a copy of the vehicle insurance showing that the vehicle is insured for business use. These permits are only for parking whilst out providing care. They are not valid for parking at your place of work. 

Where you can park

Special carer permits allow you to park in the three hour disc and permit holder parking areas. 

Health Emergency Badge (HEB)

The health emergency badge allows doctors, qualified nurses and dentists to park their vehicle within Whitby's Controlled Parking Zone area when they are attending an emergency patient. 

How to apply

HEB's are free of charge to qualifying medical professionals. In order to qualify you need a letter from the doctor's surgery or from the NHS Trust confirming the need for medical staff to be mobile or that they may be required to attend medical emergencies. 

The application should also include a copy of the vehicle insurance showing that the vehicle is insured for business use. 

Where you can park

These permits must not be used for parking at home or to facilitate parking and journeys to and from work. 

Attendance carer

Carer's permits are available to residents requiring care within Whitby's Controlled Parking Zone.

Carers permits allow parking in the two hours disc and permit holder only parking areas. To qualify for a permit you will need to provide a letter from your doctor confirming that the resident requires substantial and regular care.

Where you can park

These permits are only valid while visiting the property of the resident and cannot be used to park for other purposes.
