We're looking for volunteers to encourage people to reuse and recycle through our Love Food Hate Waste campaign.

Being a rotter is a great way of getting involved with your local community by raising awareness of the importance of home composting, promoting the Love Food Hate Waste campaign and encouraging people to reuse and recycle. For younger people being a rotter is a good way to gain valuable skills and work experience.

The role of a rotter

Rotters help inspire people to change their waste habits by giving talks and running activities at events, shows and schools across North Yorkshire. By sharing information about waste prevention you’ll be helping us reduce the seven million tonnes of food and drink waste thrown away from UK homes every year.

Rotters are not committed to give a specific number of hours each month and can choose which events they are able to attend. Many members of the team volunteer elsewhere and a third combine being a rotter with paid employment.

All you need to be a rotter is enthusiasm. Volunteers are provided with a uniform and training as well as support from a dedicated volunteer coordinator.
