We are developing a Town Investment Plan for South Craven as part of a regeneration programme across 32 towns in the county. The plans will help guide future funding bids by ensuring they are targeted to local priorities.
This project is supported by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and part-funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
South Craven is a distinctive area located south of Skipton, encompassing a number of communities and surrounding villages. Historically shaped by the textile industry, South Craven retains a strong industrial and entrepreneurial heritage that continues today through a diverse mix of manufacturing, engineering, retail, hospitality and service-sector businesses. The area also benefits from a unique combination of attractive rural landscapes, thriving local communities and strong economic links to neighbouring urban centres.
The South Craven Town Investment Plan is proposed to encompass a number of towns and villages because, when considered individually, these communities would not meet the eligibility or scale required to justify a standalone investment plan.
By bringing the area together as a single functional geography, the plan will reflect the shared economic, social and transport links between communities, creating a stronger strategic case for investment.
This collective approach enables common challenges and opportunities to be addressed across the wider South Craven area, ensuring that smaller settlements can benefit from targeted investment and support that would otherwise be difficult to secure independently.
Have your say
To make sure each investment plan reflects local priorities, we are inviting residents, business owners and visitors to share their views on their local town and how they think it could be improved.
