Welburn Parish Council - CGR

We are consulting residents of Welburn Parish Council. Due to a lack of residents willing to become parish councillors, we are undertaking a community governance review to ensure that parish level governance arrangements are operating as effectively as possible.

Welburn Parish Council has not been functioning since March 2024. This means that there are no councillors to attend parish meetings. Three of our Division Members are currently temporarily appointed to the parish council to enable it to stay quorate.

In order to maintain parish level governance in the area, Welburn could merge with a neighbouring parish council. Whitwell-on-the-Hill and Crambe Parish Council, Bulmer Parish Council and Westow Parish Council are neighbouring parish councils that could be considered for a merger.

Henderskelfe Parish Meeting and Huttons Ambo Parish Council also neighbour Welburn, but currently the Local Government Boundary Commission for England are consulting on our division boundaries and these parishes are proposed to sit in a different division and it is not recommended that parish councils cross division boundaries.

You are invited to have your say as part of this consultation.

The closing date for the survey is 22 December 2025.
