Changes to Active North Yorkshire this summer

This summer, we are introducing a number of changes across Active North Yorkshire to create a simpler, clearer and more consistent experience across all sites. These include simplifying our membership options, moving to a new, single booking system and updating the names of our swim sessions and group exercise classes so they are easier to understand when booking.

We have countless exercise classes designed to suit a variety of ages, abilities, and conditions at Northallerton Leisure and Wellbeing Hub. Ranging from low to high-impact workouts, including classes that benefit your mental health, we have everything at our centre to ensure you can find something that suits you and your journey to leading a happier and healthier lifestyle.

Exercise classes at Northallerton Leisure and Wellbeing Hub

Exercise class Description
AquaFit AquaFit is a water based, high energy exercise class. Designed to build strength, improve cardiovascular health and increase flexibility. AquaFit offers a low impact, high reward workout suitable for all fitness levels. This is led by a qualified instructor.
Aqua natal Midwife lead exercises using the buoyancy of the water for support. A great way to have fun, improve fitness and maintain a healthy weight while pregnant.
Boxercise An effective form of cross training, combining aerobic and strength exercise. Fun, energetic and addictive.
Clubbercise High-energy dance fitness class using nightclub-style music. The workout combines cardio and toning exercises, creating a party atmosphere while improving fitness, coordination and stamina.
Core Strengthen your abs, improve stability and tone your entire midsection. Expect controlled movements, targeted core exercises and functional conditioning to support better posture and everyday strength.
Fitball Fitball is a core and conditioning workout using a stability ball to improve balance, strength, posture and overall core stability.
Group cycle Group cycle is a studio‑based fitness class where participants ride stationary bikes together, following an instructor who guides the pace, resistance and intensity.
Gym floor A group, gym based circuit class using the gym equipment and functional exercises.
HIIT HIIT is a fast-paced workout alternating short bursts of high-intensity exercise with recovery periods to improve fitness, strength and endurance. Suitable for all fitness levels.
Kettlebells Kettlebells is a full-body strength and conditioning workout using kettlebell exercises to improve strength, fitness, balance and endurance. Suitable for all fitness levels.
Mat Pilates Low‑impact, full‑body workout that focuses on core strength, posture, mobility and controlled movement, all performed on a mat without machines.
Stability conditioning A chair based fitness session. Ideal if you are beginning your fitness journey or if you have general mobility issues.
Strength and conditioning A full-body workout combining resistance and functional exercises to build strength, improve fitness and enhance overall performance.
Tai chi Tai chi is a traditional Chinese martial art practised as a low‑impact exercise involving controlled, continuous movements and breathing techniques. It enhances balance, flexibility, coordination, relaxation and mental focus, making it especially beneficial for older adults and people seeking gentle, holistic exercise.
Total body conditioning Combining cardiovascular exercises, strength training and body‑weight movements to boost fitness, burn calories and tone all major muscle groups.
Yoga Mind‑body practice that combines physical postures, breathwork and mindfulness to build strength, flexibility, balance and inner calm.
Zumba Zumba is a high‑energy dance‑fitness class that mixes Latin and international music with easy to follow choreography to create a fun, cardio‑boosting workout.
