Richmond Pool closure update – 7 October
Thank you to everyone who took part in our recent consultation, we received over 2,200 responses and your feedback has been invaluable in helping shape the future of Richmond Pool. 58% of respondents said they use the pool at least once a week and 74% said reopening the pool is very important.
We’ve been given the go ahead to undertake essential repairs to the site to the value of approximately £1.2 million. This will allow for the reopening of the pool as part of our wider leisure investment strategy. The work will include:
- replacing the ceiling
- upgrading the plant room
- mechanical and electrical repairs
The gym would also benefit from upgraded equipment as part of our wider leisure investment strategy.
Next steps
We aim to reopen both swimming pools during the first half of 2026 and we’ll now get to work on a detailed plan to help make that happen. We’ll keep you updated on our progress.
In the meantime, we understand the ongoing closure of the pool is frustrating and truly appreciate your patience. Customers are welcome to use pool facilities at our neighbouring Active North Yorkshire sites.
Please note that the café, gym, class studio, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi at the Richmond site remain open as normal, as are the businesses that operate from the site and the mini golf.
