It is never too late to learn!
Swimming is one of the best ways to improve fitness, relax and a valuable life skill. We have a wide range of fun and all-inclusive lessons to encourage you to take that first step in the pool, you will be splashing around in no time!

Swimming lessons for adults in the Hambleton area

Can't swim or want to become a stronger swimmer? It is never too late to learn. Whatever your current ability, we are here to inspire you to enjoy a whole new world in the water!

The following leisure and wellbeing hubs offer swimming lessons for adults, with friendly and professional teachers who fully understand and appreciate your needs:

  • Bedale Leisure and Wellbeing Hub
  • Northallerton Leisure and Wellbeing Hub
  • Stokesley Leisure and Wellbeing Hub
  • Thirsk and Sowerby Leisure and Wellbeing Hub

Depending on your level you will work towards three awards: 

  • be water confident – this award is about gaining confidence. It covers the ability to move around the pool with confidence and to achieve basic core aquatic skills. These are entries, exits, buoyancy and aquatic breathing
  • be a swimmer – by the time you earn this award you will have the necessary skills to start swimming independently over short distances
  • be a better swimmer – by the time you earn this award you’ll be able to swim up to 400 metres

How to join

We offer a programme of continuous assessment, allowing you to join at any point during the year. To check availability, please speak to reception at the relevant leisure and wellbeing hub.

If a place is not immediately available, you can add your name to our waiting list. We will contact you as soon as a place becomes available.
