Swimming lessons for children at Skipton Leisure and Wellbeing Hub

Learning to swim is a fun way for your children to increase their overall fitness, boost confidence and make new friends!

We have a wide range of fun and all-inclusive lessons to encourage you to take that first step in the pool, you will be splashing around in no time! With the focus on fun and enjoyment, all our swimmers progress faster with greater confidence and with increased self-belief.

Swimming lessons

We offer both swimming lessons and water safety education. We offer stage awards in competitive swimming and rookie lifesaving.

All our lessons for youngsters are designed around the Swim England Learn to Swim framework to help you understand and keep track of your child’s progress and to keep them motivated as they progress forward.

We currently have spaces for swimming lessons for children on stages 4 to 7. Due to demand, our waiting list for stages 1 to 3 is currently closed. We will let you know as soon as it reopens.

Contact us to sign up for children's swimming lessons stages 4 to 7. When applying, please provide the swimming stage you would like to sign up to and your child's full name, date of birth, address and your preferred contact number and email address.

Junior Swim Fit

Junior Swim Fit is for children who have successfully completed Learn to Swim stages 1 to 7 and want to continue developing their strokes and technique while improving overall fitness. These sessions offer a fun and structured environment to build endurance, refine skills and stay active in the water.

Rookie lifeguard programme

Due to demand, our waiting list for the rookie lifeguard programme is currently closed. We will let you know as soon as it reopens.

Our Royal Life Saving Society rookie lifeguard programme helps to give your child all the skills they need to be fully confident in the pool or the sea. Learn special lifesaving skills and take the first step towards becoming a lifeguard.

Our rookie lifeguard sessions run on:

  • Tuesday at 5pm
  • Wednesdays at 5:30pm

HomePortal – stay connected with your child’s progress

HomePortal lets you track your child’s progress as they learn to swim. With just your email address and your child’s leisure card number, you can: 

  • manage classes and bookings - see available lessons and change the date, time or instructor as well as choosing the next class your child can move into
  • see which badges or certificates your child has earned and get email notifications as soon as your child completes a level
  • easily manage your payments online

Please make sure your current email address is registered on your child’s leisure card account as this is required to log in.

Local swimming clubs

Looking to take your swimming further or try something new? These local clubs offer a range of opportunities for all ages and abilities. From competitive swimming to triathlon training and even underwater hockey!

Skipton Swimming Club

Skipton Swimming Club welcomes swimmers of all ages and abilities. With a progressive squad structure, swimmers can enter competitive swimming at a level that suits them, from novice galas to national competitions. The club provides a supportive environment to help swimmers grow in confidence, skill and performance.

Clubs nights take place on: 

  • Monday and Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm
  • Thursday from 7:15pm to 8:45pm
  • Sunday from 2:45pm to 4:45pm

Craven Energy Triathlon and Multisport Club

Craven Energy Triathlon and Multisport Club is a small, friendly club offering regular training sessions for everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned triathletes. Whether you are training for your first event or looking to improve your performance, the club provides a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Swim sessions take place on:

  • Monday from 8:30pm to 9:30pm
  • Thursday from 6:30pm to 7:15pm
  • Saturday from 7:30am to 9:30am

Skipton Underwater Hockey Club

Underwater hockey is a fast-paced, team sport played on the bottom of the pool. Players use short sticks to push a weighted puck and score goals, it is fantastic for fitness and a lot of fun! 

Skipton Underwater Hockey Club is a great way to try something different and meet new people.

Club nights take place on Fridays:

  • from 7:30pm to 8:30pm for juniors
  • from 8:30pm to 9:30pm for adults
