Vision for the future of Northallerton

Find out about the proposed investment priorities for Northallerton.

We are developing a Town Investment Plan (TIP) for Northallerton as part of a regeneration programme across 32 towns in the county. The plans will help guide future funding bids by ensuring they are targeted to local priorities.

This project is supported by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and part-funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.

Nestled in the heart of the Vale of Mowbray well connected by road and rail, Northallerton provides a range of services for around 20,000 residents and a wide rural catchment beyond. The busy high street and its twice weekly market host a range of national and local businesses, and on the edge of the town centre are a hospital, leisure centre and the volunteer operated Forum community and entertainment venue.

In recent years Northallerton has grown seeing additional housing and an expanding town centre. Now we are asking people if more needs to be done and we want to find out what the important investment priorities are for the people and businesses of the town. We are focusing on six themes:

  • business
  • tourism and events
  • environment
  • community and health, culture, heritage and leisure
  • transport and movement
  • education and skills

Have your say

To make sure each investment plan reflects local priorities we are inviting residents, business owners and visitors to share their views on their local town and how you think it could be improved.
