You can report a lost or stray dog in the Craven area to our dog warden service.

Reporting a stray dog

Our dog warden service can deal with stray dogs during the following office opening hours:

  • Monday and Tuesday: 9am to 5pm
  • Wednesday: 9.30am to 5pm
  • Thursday: 9am to 5pm
  • Friday: 9am to 4.30pm

To report a stray dog contact us

If you find a dog outside of office hours you can:

  • keep the dog until the next working day and contact us in office hours
  • Contact your local vet and check whether they will take the dog
  • release the dog

How can I claim my lost dog?

If you have lost your dog and believe that we may have it, please contact us.

Before we can return your dog to you, we must see proof of ownership and you will have to pay a release fee in full. This fee covers the cost of kenneling the dog and includes a prescribed fee which is made under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Any veterinary fees incurred will also have to be paid.
