Food safety training

Information about food hygiene training for staff in food businesses.

Owners of food-related businesses must comply with the Government’s Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013.

They must ensure staff who handle food are suitably trained and receive instructions about good food hygiene.

Employees responsible for the business’s food safety management procedures must receive training to help them carry them out.

These skills may also be learned:

  • on the job
  • through study
  • through relevant experience elsewhere

You can find more information about food safety training online on the Food Standards Agency website.
