This scheme provides preventative services that directly address the risks of death, injuries and illness caused by dangerous gas work and appliances, and the promotion of gas safety awareness.
The following types of essential minor work can be carried out through this scheme:
- gas safety checks
- gas servicing
- gas boiler repairs
- gas boiler combustion analysis
- gas cookers
- fires
- gas pipework
- gas meters
- water heaters
There is a maximum grant of £500 per household. This funding is available until September 2025.

Eligibility
Those eligible are:
- home owners who are aged 60 or over and have low household income and/or a disability
- home owners who are aged 18 to 59 and have a low household income and/or a disability
- home owners who are considered exceptionally vulnerable by the home improvement agency - an explanation must be provided
The low income criteria is:
- less than £36,000 for a multiple occupancy household
- less than £25,000 for single occupancy
