Testimonials

Colin – Scarborough

"After leaving full time employment I still wanted to find something that would make a worthwhile contribution without using all my retirement hours. On taking my grandchildren to school, I noticed that there was no school crossing patrol and discovered that the local community were keen to have a replacement. Believing I could make a difference, and spare an hour a day, I successfully applied. The rewards are far greater than financial. Every user, young or old, is thrilled to see you. The children think you are a wizard because you can stop cars with a “lollipop!” Their smiles, laughter and gratitude make you realise you are making a valuable contribution to the local area."

Adele – Richmond

“I was looking for a part-time role with a reliable employer. I had previous experience looking after children as a child minder and working in schools. The advert from North Yorkshire Council drew me to it as it offered a local opportunity. Where I could make a difference, keep children and carers safe. It feels like I am investing in my community. It really is a rewarding and fulfilling job!”
