This library is managed and operated by volunteers working in partnership with North Yorkshire Council.

Library opening hours

  • Monday: 10am to 5pm
  • Tuesday: 10am to 1pm
  • Wednesday: 10am to 5pm
  • Thursday: 10am to 1pm
  • Friday: 10am to 5pm
  • Saturday: 10am to 12noon
  • Sunday: closed

Finding the library, parking and access

The library is located on Eastfield High Street just below the main shopping centre at the bottom of the pedestrian area. Eastfield Community Centre is directly opposite the main entrance. The nearest bus stop is for routes 7 and 17, which serve the nearby shopping area.

There is no dedicated car parking, but on-street parking is available adjacent to the library and there are no restrictions in force. The library has automatic doors and all areas are accessible to wheelchairs.

Items available from the library

You can borrow a range of books for all ages in a variety of formats, including large print, audio and foreign language titles are available for loan. Well-being bags, self-care toolkits and micro:bits are also available and you can request any item that is not immediately available.

For further information about any of the activities below, please contact the library. More Than Books is a Wellbeing Hub and holds various events throughout the year.

Ancestry Club

The Ancestry club meets on alternate Tuesdays from 2:00pm to 3:30pm and offers support and advice from experienced staff and volunteers. 

Board games club

The Board Games Club meets every Monday 1pm-3pm (adults), 3:30pm-4:30pm (families) and Wednesdays from 10am to 12 noon.

Craft sessions for adults

There are a variety of regular craft workshops and activities running throughout the year.

Craft sessions for children

We run regular craft sessions and special events during school holidays.

In-between club

The In-between Club is a great place to go in-between school and home. They meet Tuesday during term-time from 3:30pm to 4:30pm and offer a variety of activities. Check out the More Than Books Facebook page for updates.

Bounce and rhyme

Songs, rhymes and sensory toys. Fridays 10am to 10:30am.

Jumbo Lego club

Jumbo Lego for under 5s meets on Fridays from 11:00am to 12:00noon.

Knitting circle

The Knitting Circle meets every Thursday from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

Lego club

Lego club meets on Wednesdays in term time from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Come along and create with other Lego enthusiasts. Each week has a different theme so check out the More Than Books Facebook page for updates.

Chess For All

All welcome, come and learn how to play or better still come and teach others how to play. Fridays 3:30pm to 4:30pm.

Story and rhyme times

There are story and rhyme time sessions for the under-fives every Tuesday during term-time from 10:30am to 11:15am.
