Changes to our mobile library service in 2026
From January 2026 we will be replacing our existing supermobile library with a smaller, more versatile mobile library vehicle that will allow us to visit even more communities across the county.
As part of this we have reviewed all existing stops so, as well as adding many new stops, some of the dates and times of existing stops will change from January.
The new mobile library has been funded by Art's Council England's Library Improvement Fund.
Our mobile library service offers thousands of books. You can either come on the vehicle to choose your own books or we can select books for you to collect when we visit. Just call 01609 533878 or email mobilelibrary@northyorks.gov.uk and let us know.
If you are not yet a library member, you can join onboard the mobile library when we visit.
If you need to return borrowed books and miss the mobile library visit, you can return them on our next visit or to any of our libraries.
You can also renew books and other items online and over the telephone. For more details, see our library services page. Charges apply to some items on the mobile library, find out more on our library charges page.
