Skip permits

You need a permit before you place a skip on a public road or highway.

Licences to place building materials on a road

You need a licence if you want to place building materials on any part of the highway.

Scaffolding and hoarding on the road

A scaffold or hoarding licence is required to use scaffolding or another structure to do building or maintenance work on or over a highway.

Mobile working platforms

A licence is required to operate mobile mechanical plant machinery - such as cherry pickers and scissor lifts - on roads, footways, footpaths, verges and back streets.

Licences for objects over a road

By law, licences are required for equipment such as canopies, blinds or CCTV equipment that might protrude over a public highway.
