Couples are being given the opportunity to bring more personal touches to their wedding day through new services which have been launched.
The chance to craft a ceremony tailored to a couple’s specific wishes is now being offered across hundreds of approved wedding venues and register offices in the county.
The new services include an online ceremony planner to allow couples the opportunity to personalise their wedding or civil service, including aspects such as vows and promises to music and readings.
Couples will also be able to choose up to five songs for their ceremony, as well as picking a reading by a favourite author, poet or their own writings.
While wedding and civil ceremonies need to include specific legal wording, our new services are offering couples the chance to tailor their vows to express their love and commitment in a more personal way. Couples also have the flexibility to refine their ceremony details, and changes can be made up to four weeks before their big day.
Executive member for registration services, Cllr Greg White, said: “Anyone’s wedding day is a momentous occasion, and we want to make sure that couples are given every opportunity to ensure that their ceremony is as special and memorable as possible.
“These new services will provide couples with the chance to tailor their weddings or civil ceremonies to ensure that the day will even more treasured for many years to come.”
There are more than 200 approved wedding venues in North Yorkshire, and the council oversees eight register offices in Harrogate, Malton, Northallerton and Richmond as well as Scarborough, Selby, Skipton and Whitby.
