About the North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum

The North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum is a partnership of organisations working together to prepare for, respond to, and recover from major incidents or emergencies in York and North Yorkshire.

It includes local emergency service responders - police, fire and ambulance - local authorities, businesses and voluntary organisations such as Community First Yorkshire, York Centre for Voluntary Service and Ready for Anything. Each agency within the forum is legally required to deliver their own duties set out in the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.

The forum provides:

  • advice on preparing for emergencies
  • an insight into how responders work together to protect people, property, and the environment
  • support for communities to recover after extreme events

North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum strategy

Read the North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum Strategy (pdf / 2 MB). It has been developed to meet new and existing challenges. The strategy focuses on six key resilience themes:

  • risk
  • responsibility and accountability
  • partnerships
  • communities
  • investment
  • skills

These themes come from the UK Resilience Framework and are our priorities for building resilience across York and North Yorkshire.

Risk register

The government creates a national risk register outlining the risks that could affect the UK in the next two years and provides guidance for the public. You can read the national risk register on the government website.

The North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum has created its own community risk register, which highlights the risks that could have an impact on our local communities and how you can be ready for these risks and stay safe.

Read the North Yorkshire Community Risk Register (pdf / 5 MB).

Including these risks in the register does not mean that they will occur, but the forum has plans in place to respond if needed.
