Project aims
The £32 million Selby Station Gateway project is the first phase of regeneration in Selby. Work on the project starts at the end of May 2026.
The proposals for the project developed following three public consultations in September 2019, March 2021 and October 2021. You can read about the September 2019 consultation (pdf / 7 MB) and the 2021 consultations on the Your Voice website, including Consultation Outcome Reports for all three.
The Transforming Cities Fund project aims to encourage the use of sustainable transport through delivering improved access, walking and cycling routes to the railway station.
The project consists of:
- removing unused buildings surrounding Selby railway station, including the former Railway Social Club and empty business centre units
- creating additional parking and new station access at Cowie Drive
- providing new and upgraded walking and cycling routes
- creating a new Station Plaza, linking the railway station to Selby Park
The work will be carried out by national contractor Galliford Try Ltd.
