Ticketless parking machines

Find out about paying for parking and parking fines for our ticketless parking machines.

We are replacing older parking machines with new digital, ticketless machines. The new machines are more reliable, support modern payment methods and reduce maintenance costs.

We have not finished replacing the machines in all our car parks yet, but this page explains how to pay for parking and how parking fines work in car parks with the new machines. You can check if a car park is ticketless in our car park directory.

How do you check that I have paid?

Our officers use handheld devices to check if there is a valid parking session connected to your vehicle registration number.

What happens if I enter the wrong registration?

You can send evidence that you paid but entered the wrong registration through our appeals process.

Why do the new machines not issue paper tickets?

We are moving to ticketless parking to:

  • reduce operating costs
  • reduce paper use
  • prevent ticket fraud and ticket transfer
  • improve the integration between our payment and enforcement systems
  • support a more modern and efficient parking service

Can I appeal a parking ticket?

Yes, you can appeal a parking fine online.

You should include the registration number you used to pay and provide all the evidence you can. For example:

  • card payment receipts
  • bank statements
  • app payment confirmation
