Inspiration for change privacy notice

This privacy notice is designed to help you understand how and why the inspiration for change team processes your personal data. This notice should be read in conjunction with our corporate privacy notice.

Who are we?

North Yorkshire Council are a ‘data controller’ as defined by Article 4(7) of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

The aim of inspiration for change is to work intensely with parents who have had a child/ren permanently removed from their care to reduce the chances of further pregnancies leading to future care proceedings. We recognise this can be a difficult time for families and work with sensitivity and confidence, enabling parents to make positive change. The type of support offered could be: Practical support that may include, homelessness prevention, domestic abuse, accessing support from external agencies, sexual health, contraception and professional support such as advising parents around contacts, coordinate network meetings, and emotional support to ensure the wellbeing of the parent’s mental health, emotional health etc.

  • address
  • date of birth
  • information about your previous involvement with our services

In order to offer the most appropriate support to you, we need to collect and process your personal information.

  • NHS Trusts: Harrogate and district Foundation Trust; Tees, Esk and Wear Valley Foundation Trust
  • housing Providers: Foundation UK; Safe and Sound Homes; Barnardos; Ryedale YMCA; Ripon YMCA; Richmond YMCA; Leeds federation Housing; broadacres
  • independent domestic abuse services
  • voluntary agencies that you receive a service from

What is our lawful basis for processing your information?

With regard to personal data: Article 6(1)(e) – Public Task.

With regard to special category data: Article 9(2)(h) – health and social care and the Data Protection Act 2018, Schedule 1 (2) (e) - the provision of social care.
