Order a new or replacement bin

You may need to order a new or replacement rubbish or recycling bin if:

• you have moved into a property and there are no bins on site
• your bin is missing, lost or stolen
• you are a holiday let owner and your property is changing from Business Rates to Council Tax rated

Do not order a new or replacement rubbish or recycling bin if:

• you live in a communal property with shared bins - your landlord or management company need to request one for you (using this form)
• you have recently moved into a new build or newly-converted property without a bin - this must be done by the developer, or you must have spoken to the developer before submitting a request
• you have a bin at your property but want to request a larger or smaller bin
• your bin is damaged through normal wear and tear - report a damaged bin instead
• you want to sign up for the garden waste collection service. If you do not already have a garden waste bin (or bins), you can request one as part of the sign-up process

Fees and charges

There is a £37.50 administration charge for a replacement bin. You can pay this online.

If your bin was lost in our collection vehicle, we will replace it free of charge. We will leave a postcard at your property to tell you what happened and we will automatically arrange for a bin to be delivered. You do not need to contact us to request a replacement bin.

Before you start

• please wait 48 hours before reporting - sometimes bins can be taken accidentally and later returned
• you will need a debit or credit card if you are making a payment
• we will deliver your new bin within 15 working days
• your new bin may be a different colour

New boxes and bags

Harrogate and Hambleton areas

If you live in the Harrogate or Hambleton areas you can pick up new and replacement boxes and bags in your local area. You cannot order them online.

Richmondshire area

Most properties in the Richmondshire area now have a wheeled bin collection for their recycling. We only offer bags and boxes to those properties that we have identified as being unsuitable for a wheeled bin collection. Missing or damaged boxes will be delivered to you by our recycling crews. As we are phasing out the use of boxes, these will be replaced over time with reusable bags for your glass, cans, plastic and cartons. 

Replacement reusable recycling bags for those properties identified as unsuitable for our bin collection service can be requested by contacting us. 

Scarborough area

If you live in the Scarborough area you can order new and replacement green, blue or seagull proof sacks online.

Cancelling a new or replacement bin order

We will only refund the administration charge if an order is cancelled before we have delivered a bin.
