Chairs and vice-chairs of the council

The duty of the chair is to represent and promote the council at all civic and ceremonial occasions as well as chair the full council meetings.

The position of chair is held by a councillor and is apolitical.

The chair of the council is appointed each year in May at the council's annual general meeting, and the position is held for a period of one year.

A vice-chair is also appointed to represent the chair should they be unable to accept an invitation.
