Hambleton supplementary planning documents

Supplementary planning documents are used to provide more detail and information about policies in the development plan.

Supplementary planning documents are not part of the statutory development plan, they do however form an important part of the planning policy for Hambleton and are material considerations to be taken into account when determining a planning application.

Housing supplementary planning documents

The housing supplementary planning document was adopted on 26 July 2022. The supplementary planning documents supports the Hambleton local plan and seeks:

  • the provision of affordable housing
  • a change in the types and sizes of homes built in the district
  • more choice in tenure so that all residents can access a decent home that they can afford and which suits their needs

Transfer prices - April 2024

As set out in section 6 of the housing supplementary planning document, the council has increased transfer prices as follows:

Market towns conservation area design guide supplementary planning document

The market towns conservation area design guide supplementary planning document was adopted on 21 December 2010. It provides guidance on what is acceptable development within the conservation areas of the five market towns in Hambleton. The principles in this document should also be applied to development in the village conservation areas.

Domestic extensions supplementary planning document

The Hambleton design guide domestic extensions supplementary planning document was adopted on 18 October 2022. It provides general advice for homeowners, architects, applicants and others involved in the siting and design of residential extensions and other householder applications. It covers a range of topics, from the pre-application process, design principles and detailed design guidance, through to submitting a planning application.

Public open space, sport and recreation supplementary planning documents

The open space, sport and recreation supplementary planning document give information on the financial contributions that we will seek for the provision of open space, sport and recreation through section 106 agreements.

We have developed a system for identifying public open space projects that are eligible for receipt of section 106 funding (for off-site public open space provision) through locally produced action plans. This will enable us to make more strategic and efficient decisions when allocating funds.

Sustainable development supplementary planning documents

The sustainable development supplementary planning document was adopted on 7 April 2015. It covers various aspects of delivering sustainable development through the planning system, dealing with sustainable design and construction, energy, waste management, water resources and drainage. It provides detailed guidance and supporting information for the public, developers, planners, architects and other agents in submitting and considering planning applications.

The supplementary planning document also includes chapters on commercial solar photovoltaics, commercial onshore wind, combined heat and power, anaerobic digestion, biomass, hydroelectric and microgeneration.
