Frequently asked questions about pricing changes from 1 April 2026

General information

Why are we changing the pay as you go and membership pricing?

Active North Yorkshire is currently operating under legacy pricing and membership structures. This presents significant challenges and highlights the need for a comprehensive review to establish a single, consistent Active North Yorkshire approach that meets the needs of residents and communities across North Yorkshire.

We currently offer around 70 different health and fitness membership variations inherited from legacy models. This fragmented approach is inefficient, confusing and inconsistent. It restricts customers to specific Leisure and Wellbeing Hubs rather than enabling flexible and equitable access.

When are we making the changes?

Pay as you go, concessions and learn to swim will come into effect on 1 April 2026.

The new membership structure will come into effect in September 2026.

What are we changing in pay as you go?

We have standardised the pricing categories across North Yorkshire where Active North Yorkshire operates.

Please see the new pay as you go pricing list which will come into effect on 1 April 2026.

Skipton

Why don’t block bookings include free swimming?

Free swimming is a benefit exclusively for Direct Debit payers under the harmonised Active North Yorkshire pricing model.

Are swimming lesson times changing?

No. Only pricing is changing.

Why is the price being harmonised?

Skipton was operating under the Craven Leisure pricing structure. We have joined together five different operators under the new operator Active North Yorkshire. All centres will now be consistent.

What is changing for concessions?

We are introducing a new concession discount scheme.

Hambleton

Do I lose my discount when the card goes?

If you are eligible for a concessionary rate, you will automatically be moved to this membership. If you are not eligible, you will be required to pay our standard membership or pay as you go rates.

Why is the discount card being removed?

All of our discount schemes will be the same across the county from September. Until September, we will continue to honour the discount for anyone who already has a discount card. You can also renew your card on a pro‑rata basis until the new scheme starts. If you are not sure what this means for you, or if you need help, please speak to a member of the team.
