Advice for customers - Active North Yorkshire Richmond (updated 26 June)
Our investigations undertaken so far show we are dealing with a number of historic issues and that the work needed is extensive. In addition to the essential repairs required to the fabric of the building, including the ceiling and the air handling unit, we also know that the changing rooms and other areas are in urgent need of improvement and key equipment requires replacement.
Rather than considering options in a piecemeal way we want to take more time to assess and compare all possible future options available to us, along with the pros and cons of each option and the associated costs.
We are now looking at several options for the site, these include:
- to undertake the essential works
- to undertake the works and improvements to customer areas, such as changing rooms
- to consider reconfiguration of the site and the facilities offered
- to consider alternative uses for the site
- the closure of the site
On Monday 30 June, we will be launching a survey to get your views as we look at the future of Richmond.
No decision has been taken and we urge all users of the centre to express your views as part of the survey when it goes live on Monday.
The café, gym, class studio, sauna, steam and jacuzzi remain open as normal.
