Frequently asked questions for Craven Leisure transferring to Active North Yorkshire

From Wednesday 1 October, the leisure centre in the former Craven district made the full brand change from Craven Leisure to our new brand, Active North Yorkshire.

As a customer of this centre, there are a few things you will need to know as part of this changeover. We have created a set of frequently asked questions to answer your queries and highlight how you may be affected.

We will keep these frequently asked questions updated, however, if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of our team who will do their best to help you.

General information

Will the name of the centre be changing?

The centre name changed from Craven Leisure Centre to Active North Yorkshire Skipton. This follows the naming convention for all of the other leisure and wellbeing hubs under the new brand.

Will I be able to visit Craven Leisure Centre as normal from Wednesday 1 October?

Yes, the centre will continue to operate under the existing opening hours.

Will there be any disruption to service?

We are working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure any disruption is kept to an absolute minimum. We will keep customers updated frequently on any anticipated disruption.

What will we be doing to maintain best value for money during the change to Active North Yorkshire?

The change to Active North Yorkshire was conducted in the most cost-effective way possible, ensuring all legal obligations were met and customer safety was prioritised.

Will there be any changes to booking classes?

Yes. We launched our new Active North Yorkshire app in late September. The app is the best way to book classes, join waiting lists and get centre updates. You can also book on this website.

Will the social media pages be changing?

Yes. The page name will be changed to Active North Yorkshire Skipton.

Will the centre opening hours remain the same?

Yes. There are no plans to change the opening times.

Does the change of brand affect the people who work there?

No, all the same familiar faces who have served you previously are still available at the sites. You may have already noticed a change to staff uniforms in line with the move to Active North Yorkshire.

Will I still be able to access my centre or hub in the same way?

Yes, you will be able to access it in the normal way. New customers will be issued Active North Yorkshire membership cards. Existing Craven Leisure cards will continue to work.

Will the free Wi-Fi connection change in my centre or hub?

Yes, you will still be able to enjoy free Wi-Fi in the centre.

Members of Craven Leisure

Will there be any changes to my membership?

No, your membership remains unchanged allowing you to enjoy all the same great benefits.

Will my Direct Debit change?

There will be no change. It will continue to come from Debit Finance Collections on behalf of North Yorkshire Council.

I am a member - will there be anything I need to do when my centre moves to Active North Yorkshire?

Your current card will work in the normal way. New customers will be issued Active North Yorkshire membership cards. Existing Craven Leisure cards will continue to work.

Non-members (casual users)

I am a non-member - what do I need to do?

Block bookings

I currently make block bookings - can I continue to do this?

Yes, this will continue following the normal process.

Swimming lessons

Will my or my child’s swimming lessons change?

No, there are no changes planned for swimming lessons. These will be delivered at the current stage, day and time you or your child is in.

Will the way I pay for swimming lessons change?

No, this will continue following the normal process.

Will the price for swimming lessons be changing?

Prices will be held at the current rates until the annual review point in March 2026. Any changes to pricing will be communicated in advance of 1 April 2026.

Will access to my child's online progress portal change?

There will be no change. Just log in following the normal process.
