Street cleaning
Dog and litter bins
We are responsible for providing and emptying litter bins and dog bins in public areas. Please report any bins that are:
- damaged
- dangerous to the public
- overflowing
If you feel there is a need for a new bin in your area please contact your parish or town council.
Collected bags of dog fouling can be placed in street litter bins.
Thrown or dropped litter
If you witness someone throwing litter from their car or dropping on the street and you wish to report the incident, please note that in order for enforceable action to be taken we require as much information as possible.

Community litter picking
We are happy to support local communities/groups who are keen to help improve the quality of their local area.
We’re able to lend out equipment including hi-viz vests, litter pickers and bags for organised litter picking events.
Providing we are notified in advance we are also able to collect bags of litter once full. Bags can be left at prearranged locations, which are deemed safe for our operatives to collect from.
We have produced litter pick guidance documentation which includes health and safety matters which may not have already been considered. We strongly advise that this is read and understood by participants.
To arrange the collection/return of equipment; notify us of a litter picking event taking place and to arrange and agree the collection point for filled bags please contact us.
We must be notified of when the bags will be left to allow us to make arrangements for prompt collection to avoid reports of fly-tipping.
We ask that individuals who collect small quantities of litter locally take the bags home and put them in their own bins. Please don’t leave bags next to litter bins unless this has been prearranged as this often attracts fly tipping.
We can only offer removal of bagged litter that has been collected from public land. We cannot remove waste that was collected from private land.
Please do not attempt to remove hazardous or fly-tipped waste, but instead go to report fly tipping online
