Business Spotlight
MCPI Hosting
I’m Matty Cole, 20 years old, from Scorton near Richmond in North Yorkshire. Until May 2025, I was a professional road cyclist racing internationally with Hagens Berman Jayco. Alongside cycling, I’d spent a long time absorbing information about property investment - from my parents, courses they’d taken, social media, and a lot of my own research, but I was looking for a way in that didn’t require significant upfront capital.
When I stopped racing, I found it hard to just sit still and wanted to move to the next thing straight away. Within a week, I’d found a mentor specialising specifically in holiday let and serviced accommodation management. Since June, I’ve been learning the model in depth and implementing every aspect of it - building systems, refining operations, and applying the same discipline, structure, and performance mindset that professional sport demands.
The transition from elite sport to business felt natural. The focus, consistency, and attention to detail required to perform at a high level on the bike now underpin everything I do in building MCPI Hosting.
MCPI Hosting is a holiday let, short-let and serviced accommodation management company providing a truly hands-off service for landlords and property investors. We avoid “set and forget” or bulk, volume-driven strategies used by larger operators. Instead, our focus is on scaling with each individual property optimised for both profit and quality. Every property we manage is treated as its own business. We use daily-refined dynamic pricing and calendar strategies to maximise bookings and income, while protecting long-term performance and guest experience. We handle all operational aspects from professional cleaning and maintenance coordination to guest vetting and compliance, so owners can step back with confidence, knowing their asset is protected and performing.
What excites you about what you do?
What excites me most about what I do is again how closely it mirrors my background in sport. I’ve carried that relentless drive to improve and perform into building and growing this property management company. The challenge of setting targets, measuring progress, and continually refining systems genuinely motivates me.
Ultimately, it’s about creating a business that performs day in, day out, and knowing that the results are a direct reflection of the work and standards behind it.
What has been your proudest moment?
My proudest moment has been having the courage to step away from a sport I still love and identify so strongly with. Making that decision wasn’t easy, but it gave me the space to fully commit to building something new.
I’m proud of how quickly I’ve taken what I’ve learned and applied it without hesitation - backing myself, making decisions, and putting the work in day after day to grow this venture. Walking away from a familiar path and redirecting that focus into building a business has been challenging, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding.
What is the best piece of advice or support you have received?
The best support I’ve received has come from my family, who’ve backed me fully in whatever path I’ve chosen to take. Having that level of trust and encouragement makes a huge difference, especially when you’re stepping into something new. I’ve also been fortunate to learn from mentors who’ve acted as the catalyst behind much of the growth so far, sharing knowledge I could implement immediately.
What advice would you give someone else running a business?
Just do it. The most progress comes from taking action rather than overthinking, learning by doing, adapting quickly, and moving forward without waiting for everything to be perfect.
