Held on Thursday 19 June 2025 in Harrogate UK, the North Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards celebrate outstanding talent among apprentices across the North Yorkshire region. The awards also recognise a cross section of business sectors including construction, engineering, health and technology, making competition tough.
For the Anglo-American team, it was an evening to celebrate with two award wins, a shortlist and finalist in the awards, which included Jessica Wells, Cyber Ops apprentice within Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), won the Higher Apprentice (Level 4) of the Year category award in recognition of her dedication, growth, and outstanding contribution to the GRC team over the past 18 months.
Alex Sim won the Technology and Digital Apprentice category award, signalling an impressive achievement in a highly competitive and well-represented field.
Added to Jessica and Alex’s successes, James Greenhalgh was a finalist in the Technology and Digital Apprentice category. Both Alex and James are in the Security Operations Centre team, so it was a doubly good evening for their team.
As an Employer Provider of the programme, Anglo American’s Cybersecurity Early Careers team was also shortlisted as Best Training Provider, in recognition of their ability to forge strong partnerships and invest in developing future talent.
Emily Fraser, Anglo American cyber security professional, said: “We were incredibly proud to be shortlisted for Best Training Provider at this year’s awards. Competition was fierce with six other very strong nominees, and while we didn’t take home the trophy this time, it’s never just about the win.
“Anglo American is not only an employer but also a provider of world-class cybersecurity apprenticeship training, and what makes this programme so outstanding isn’t a plaque or a title, it’s the people.”
