Agreement for the Hire of Community Centres in the Selby area

  1. Payment for the booking shall be made in advance:
    • Any additional costs incurred during the event must be paid on receipt of full invoice.
    • Any event which runs over the agreed time will be charged at an hourly rate, as per the tariff.
  2. The premises shall be used only for the purpose stated above and only by the Hirer whose name is given above.
  3. The premises must be cleared of all property belonging to the Hirer and must be left in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the booking time.
  4. The Hirer is responsible for maintaining order during the booking and will be liable for the cost of making good any damage caused to the premises or fixtures & fittings and the replacement of any items damaged which belong to the Council during the period of the booking.
  5. The Hirer is responsible for the supervision and control of all children attending functions during the period of the booking.
  6. The Council does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to property or for articles left on the premises during the booking.
  7. The Hirer shall be responsible for liability for injury to persons as a result of the hiring and is advised to arrange appropriate insurance cover.
  8. The Council will not be liable in respect of any injury caused by any item brought onto the premises by the Hirer, his/her agents, employees or guests or any abuse of items already on the premises.
  9. The premises shall not be used for purposes which involve criminal activity, risk of fire or which violates any policy of insurance, unless the Council has agreed in writing and appropriate special insurance has been obtained.
  10. No alcohol shall be consumed on the premises during the period of the hiring. If any alcohol is to be supplied and sold on the premises for any function the person in charge is required to make an application to Licensing Section for a temporary events licence. The License must be displayed at the Centre during the function.
  11. Smoking is prohibited throughout the Centre.
  12. If the Council or its Officers have reason to believe that the hiring is likely to lead to any disorder or the breach of any of the above conditions the Council may cancel the booking and any fee paid will be returned to the Hirer who shall have no claim against the Council or any Officer of the Council in respect of such cancellation.
  13. In the unfortunate circumstance that you have to cancel or postpone you’re confirmed booking at any time prior to the date of your event no refund will be given. However you can carry a credit and rebook your event for a later date.
  14. As the named person booking the community centre you agree to take all reasonable steps to ensure those attending follow the current Covid Government guidance and follow Track and Trace by using the App and QR code at the entrance, or obtain and retain for 14 days, contact information to be used if the need arose.

Payment for the hire of the premises hereby indemnifies the Council against any loss, damage or injury to any party arising from the hire or use of the premises and any equipment included with the hiring except insofar as the loss, damage or injury is due to the negligence of the Council.

Payment for the hire of the premises is confirmation that you have read and understood the terms and conditions and agree to be bound by them.
