Improving access to key services for Eastern European migrants in the Scarborough and Ryedale area.
A POMOC project has been set up in Ryedale to provide information, advice, guidance and signposting to members of the Eastern European community so they are able to navigate local services and fully engage with life in the area.
Through the employment of three part-time project workers and a team of volunteers with an understanding of Eastern European communities and language skills, the project aims to set up a number of drop-ins and contact points where people can receive free assistance in accessing services.
This assistance includes:
Project staff and volunteers will also conduct grassroots engagement with local Eastern European communities and will develop and deliver events and activities that bring them together with the wider Ryedale community. The project also serves to build the capacity of community groups and leaders to act as representatives and advocates for the Eastern European community.
