Audiobooks are moving from RBDigital to OverDrive

RBDigital, the company that provides digital audiobook platforms, has been purchased by OverDrive, another library content provider. On 9 November audiobooks on RBDigital will be moving to OverDrive, and the RBDigital platform will no longer have audiobook content.

With the Libby app from OverDrive, you will still be able to browse, borrow and enjoy all the same audiobooks. As Overdrive is our ebook provider, you will be able to see and borrow those titles too. If you have already been enjoying OverDrive on the Libby app or via the Overdrive website, there will be no change other than even more great titles available to borrow!

Audiobook services from Borrowbox and Ulverscroft are not affected.

What happens to any books that I am currently reading?

If you have audiobooks out from RBDigital and you have downloaded them to read you will still have access to those books until the loan period is over. If you are reading an audiobook online, then this will no longer be available when we change supplier.

What happens to any holds I have placed on books?

These will be lost when we move suppliers. You will need to find the books again on Overdrive/Libby.

What about digital Magazines and Comics I read on RBDigital?

They will still be available on the RBDigital platform for now but it is likely they will move in the future. We will provide further information when we have it.
