If you are currently studying with Adult Learning North Yorkshire, you will have been shown an induction video in one of your first lessons. Frequently asked questions

I cannot attend class. How do I report an absence?

If you cannot attend your lesson, please email your teacher as soon as you can to inform them of your absence.

If you cannot reach your teacher, you can also email AdultLearningService@northyorks.gov.uk or call 01609 536 066.

I need specialist equipment to help me learn. Can Adult Learning North Yorkshire help with this?

We certainly can! Your learning is our top priority so we can help with any additional support or equipment you need to succeed. Please speak to your teacher about your requirements.

My course is delivered online - do classroom rules apply to me?

For you to get the most out of your learning experience with Adult Learning North Yorkshire, we require all online learners to follow the guidelines agreed at the start of the course. This includes not eating, drinking, smoking, vaping or consuming alcohol while learning.

We also recommend that learners find a quiet place to learn, away from any distractions.

I am coming to the end of my course - is there somebody I can speak to about what to do next?

We have a dedicated team of learner engagement officers who can offer advice and guidance and support you in your next steps. These can include:

  • another course with Adult Learning North Yorkshire
  • gaining employment
  • moving on to university
  • anything else

Who can I speak to if I am not happy with something on my course?

We hope that everything on your course meets your expectations. However, if it does not, please email us at AdultLearningService@northyorks.gov.uk.

Who can I speak to if I feel unsafe?

If you feel unsafe, or are worried about somebody on your course, please email us at AdultLearningService@northyorks.gov.uk and ask to speak to our learner growth and wellbeing manager.
