Understand how you compare
Energy use can be hard to visualise and know how you compare. You can see if you are above or below average for a home of your size by looking at your bill to find your annual kilowatt hour usage for gas or electricity - a unit of energy - and comparing it to what a similar sized home uses.
Another way to get to grips with your energy usage is to use your smart meter. Experiment by switching appliances off one at a time to see what uses the most.
You can visit the smart energy website to ask your energy supplier for a smart meter for free.
If you cannot get a smart meter due to connectivity issues, there are other energy saving assistants that can help you understand your energy usage. Find out more on the Loop website.
