If you buy a council flat or maisonette from us through the right to buy scheme, or from a previous owner, you become a leaseholder.
This means you have bought a leasehold interest in your home and we own the freehold. Your lease is a legal document and sets out the rights and responsibilities of both parties, including your responsibility to repair and maintain the property and pay the service charges.

Leaseholder panel
Leaseholders can have a say in housing matters that affect them, such as service charges and communal areas, by joining the leasehold panel, which meets annually with senior managers. To find out more about how you can be involved, contact us.
Ways to pay your service charge
If you are a leaseholder, there are four easy ways to pay your service charges. Remember to have your payment reference number and debit card details ready.
Automated telephone

Lines open 24 hours. When prompted, select pay council house rent.
Online
Follow the instructions on our online payments page.
Select council house rent from the drop down menu under type of payment. Type in your 10 digit payment reference and the amount you wish to pay in the named boxes and then click on add. Follow the screen prompts to make your payment.
Directly from your bank
Payment should be made to these details:
Sort code: 62-31-10
Account number: 00000000
Give your payment reference number as the reference name.
Direct Debit
This enables us to collect monthly instalments direct from your bank account.
