Do I need a licence?

You must have a licence if you are renting out a large house in multiple occupation. Your property is defined as a large house in multiple occupation if all of the following apply:

  • the property is rented out to five or more people who form more than one household
  • the tenants share toilet, bathroom or kitchen facilities
