Welcome

North Yorkshire Building Control Partnership was the first Local Authority Building Control Partnership in the UK and is now part of the new unitary authority of North Yorkshire Council. We provide a flexible and modern building control service on behalf of North Yorkshire Council.

Our vision is to ensure that buildings in North Yorkshire are designed and constructed in accordance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation.

It is an exciting time to join North Yorkshire Council. In April 2023, eight former smaller councils unified, offering increasing opportunities within the service. The Building Control Team have a strong reputation and can offer a career where you are truly supported to develop your skills and flourish with the support of colleagues. This support and commitment to staff development is demonstrated in the services “We Invest in People Gold Accreditation” which was awarded in 2021 and has been successfully independently reviewed annually.

You will work with a highly motivated and friendly team of like-minded professionals who are all committed to working together ensure our buildings are full compliant with Section 91 and 92 of the Building Act 1984.

Our current job opportunities

We currently have opportunities available for Assistant Building Control Surveyors, Building Control Surveyors and Senior Building Control Surveyors. These are hybrid working roles with expectation to attend offices in North Yorkshire when required including North Yorkshire Building Control Partnership head office at Easingwold, Civic Centre (Skipton) and Civic Centre (Harrogate).

  • Assistant Building Control Surveyor - £25,119 to £32,076 (subject to pay award)
  • Building Control Surveyor - £32,076 to £40,221 (subject to pay award)
  • Senior Building Control Surveyors - £40,221 to £44,428 (subject to pay award)

We are seeking Assistant Building Control Surveyors, Building Control Surveyors and Senior Building Control Surveyors who are registered with the Building Safety Regulator and have demonstrated their level of competence through an approved validation scheme or are working towards the validation of their competence. The core focus of the role is to effectively deliver the building control function throughout North Yorkshire and contribute towards the objectives of the council.

In addition, the county benefits from excellent road and rail links, with easy access via the east coast mainline, the A1(M) and A19. Leeds, York, Newcastle, Durham and Teesside are all easily commutable, and London and Edinburgh are just two hours away by train.

From its lively cities to pretty villages, rolling countryside and grand coastline, Yorkshire has so much to offer including great employment opportunities for your family members, along with a higher proportion of schools which are good or outstanding compared to national figures.
