Access our new online benefits system for landlords

We have built a new online portal which gives landlords quick, convenient and secure access to their tenants’ Housing Benefit entitlement and Housing Benefit payment breakdowns.

We are no longer sending any payment schedules by post or email, or any landlord Housing Benefit notification letters – this information must be accessed via the portal.

If you have any questions call us on 0300 131 2 131. When prompted, please say 'landlord portal'.

How to sign up to the portal

Before we launched the portal we contacted all landlords to let them know about the change, and asked them to send us a contact name, email address and telephone number so that a primary user account could be set up.

If you have not yet done this please email the information to welfareandbenefits@northyorks.gov.uk

If you have a primary user account, you can set up further users within the portal.

New reference numbers for landlords and claimants

As part of this system change, we gave all landlords, apart from those in the previous Ryedale district area, a new landlord reference number.

Claimant’s claim reference numbers have also changed. They are now all ten digits long with the following prefixes:

51 Craven

52 Hambleton

53 Harrogate

54 New North Yorkshire Council claims

55 Richmond

56 Ryedale

57 Scarborough

58 Selby

Payment dates

The payment on 7 July 2025 will bring all payments for landlords in former legacy council areas up to the same paid to date of 6 July 2025. This could mean some payments will cover less than four weeks. Payments after this will be on a normal four weekly cycle.
