Shuttleworth gardens

Find out information about Shuttleworth gardens, its features and facilities.

The name for this garden came from its creator, Alfred Shuttleworth, who owned the house called Red Court, which is now better known as the hospital in the popular television series “The Royal”.

In 1817, the building opposite Red Court came up for sale, and Shuttleworth decided that he would like a sea view, so he bought the building, knocked it down and gave the garden he created in its place to the people of Scarborough.

Since the gardens were created, there has always been a sensory garden and this has been updated in recent years. The gardens also boast an excellent collection of miniature spring bulbs.
