Restaurant and café owners are being urged to showcase their culinary talents as part of a popular scheme which offers customers great food at great prices.

In October, Restaurant Week comes to both the Selby and Harrogate areas.

The campaign offers the food and hospitality industry the chance to celebrate their menus, attract new customers and create regular repeat visits and will run from 6 to 12 October across Selby, Tadcaster, Sherburn-in-Elmet and the Harrogate area.

Visitors to the venues taking part will be able to try new places, menus and dishes at tempting prices.

Executive member for open to business, Cllr Mark Crane, who is the elected member for Brayton and Barlow, near Selby, said: “North Yorkshire is renowned for its excellent food and drink, and we want to showcase the best of what the Selby and Harrogate areas have to offer.

“The week of offers is held during what is normally a quieter time of the year to encourage footfall into our hospitality businesses and I would encourage the restaurants, cafes and tearooms from across the area to get involved.”

Visit North Yorkshire, our destination marketing and management service, organises Restaurant Week, with Selby and Harrogate previously taking part and Whitby joining the ranks earlier this year.

Graham Usher, the managing director of The Drovers Arms restaurant and country pub in Skipwith, near Selby, said: “There is such an amazing choice of restaurants and eateries in the local vicinity, and this is a great opportunity to bring them all together and showcase for a week to residents and visitors what is available.

“At The Drovers Arms, we will be showcasing the wonderful produce that is available to us locally with a great value fixed price menu for lunch and dinner.”

This year, the fifth Harrogate Restaurant Week is once again supported by the Harrogate Business Improvement District (BID), which is covering the costs for its members following a successful partnership with Visit North Yorkshire last year.

The operations and projects executive at Harrogate BID, Bethany Allen, said: “As the Business Improvement District in Harrogate, we're delighted to once again sponsor the popular Restaurant Week in our town.

“It's a great initiative that helps to drive both footfall and spend into our town centre's hospitality sector, which lines up perfectly with one of the key objectives in our business plan.

“The week-long scheme always receives fantastic feedback from our BID member businesses, residents and visitors - so we're very pleased to offer our support for another year.”
