We held a six week consultation from Monday 2 August until 5pm on 13 September 2021 on the document of the additional site.

The consultation is now closed. We will now consider responses to the plan and more information will be given in due course.

The additional sites interactive map includes all sites that have been submitted/rejected. For information on how to navigate and use our interactive map please see our  how to guide (docx / 129 KB).

The preparation of a new local plan for the Selby district provides the opportunity to consider what sort of place we would like Selby to be in 2040. The plan will set out a vision and framework for the future growth of the district, identifying where new housing, employment and other development will be located. The local plan will also set out policies which the council will use to determine planning applications and, once adopted, will replace the Selby District Core Strategy Local Plan (2013) and those policies that have been ‘saved’ from the Selby District Local Plan (2005).

The Additional Sites Consultation follows the Preferred Options consultation which took place between January and March 2021 and set out the preferred spatial approach in terms of where development will be focussed and the draft policies which will be used to determine planning applications. The Preferred Options consultation was also the last opportunity for landowners to submit land for consideration for development in the local plan. 44 additional or amended sites were received during the consultation, which has now been assessed by us and we have put forward the sites we consider to be the most suitable amongst these as Preferred Sites. In order to ensure that these sites have been subject to the same level of scrutiny we are now asking your views on whether you think these new and amended sites are suitable for development. Your views will help us to reach final conclusions on the sites which will be allocated in the Publication version of the local plan.

We are not seeking comments on those sites which were previously included as part of the Local Plan Preferred Options consultation only the additional or amended sites. Neither are we asking for any more new sites.

How to submit comments?

To submit your comments via the consultation portal you must first log into the system. Registering with the system is a two-step process. Please make sure you have completed both parts or you may find you cannot log in. You must complete all name and address fields for your comments to be validated. You only need to register as an ‘Agent’ if you are a planning agent, for instance, a planning professional submitting comments on behalf of landowners and/or stakeholders.

Once you are registered on the consultation portal, you will be updated on the progress as the plan goes forward.

Alternatively, comments can be submitted to us by email to: localplan.sel@northyorks.gov.uk, or by post to Planning Policy Team, Selby District Council, Civic Centre, Doncaster Road, YO8 9FT.

Please note that the deadline for submitting representations is 5pm on Monday 13 September 2021.
