We are trialling a restriction on overnight motorhome parking in three coastal locations.
Following a number of complaints and serious safety concerns, we are trialling a restriction on overnight motorhome parking in three coastal locations.
The trial restriction, known as an experimental traffic regulation order, will take place for up to 18 months and prohibit motorhomes and campervans from parking overnight between 11pm and 7am on:
- the A171 at Sandsend
- Scarborough North Bay (Royal Albert Drive)
- Cayton Bay (Osgodby Road southern end and Filey Road)
During the trial, we are asking people to share their views whether they are a motorhome user or not.

A decision will be made on the outcome of the trial by May 2026 at the latest. However, we intend a decision is reached by autumn 2025.
