Richmond Leisure and Wellbeing Hub survey

Tell us what you think of Richmond Leisure and Wellbeing Hub, your experience of using it and if you have used other leisure facilities in the area while the pools are closed.

Both swimming pools at Richmond Leisure and Wellbeing Hub (formerly Richmond Swimming Pool and Liberty’s Gym) remain closed following a partial collapse of the ceiling. Over the last few weeks we have undertaken further investigations and this has revealed a number of historic issues.

The work now required to address the essential maintenance issues is extensive and will require the pools remain closed while it is carried out. In addition to the essential repairs required to the fabric of the building, we also know that customer facing areas such as the changing rooms are in urgent need of improvement and key equipment needs replacing.

Given this situation, rather than undertaking work in a piecemeal way we want to take more time to assess and consider all possible future options available, along with the pros and cons of each option and the associated costs. We also want to consider this as part of our wider work looking at potential investment decisions on leisure facilities as part of our countywide leisure investment strategy.

We are currently considering all options and no decisions have been made, however, options could include:

  • undertaking only essential works
  • undertaking essential work as well as some improvements, such as to changing rooms
  • rethinking what leisure services we offer at the site
  • using the site for something else
  • closing the centre

As part of this, it is really important that we hear from people who use the facilities. Therefore, we would like your views on what you think of Richmond Leisure and Wellbeing Hub, your experience of using it and if you have used other leisure facilities in the area while the pools are closed.
