Unauthorised camping, fires and barbeques Public Space Protection Order for Scarborough and Whitby consultation

We want to hear your views on our proposed Public Space Protection Order regarding unauthorised camping, fires and barbeques in Scarborough and Whitby.

In recent years, there has been an increase in unauthorised camping (often referred to as wild or fly camping) in parks and green spaces in Scarborough and Whitby. The lighting of fires and barbeques has also become a concern to the local community.

Nine locations have been identified where the camping and the lighting of fires and use of barbeques has resulted in significant and persistent littering, antisocial behaviour, crime and damage to the environment.

Therefore, we are proposing to introduce a Public Space Protection Order at these nine locations in Scarborough and Whitby to help us and our partners control and hopefully stop this activity.

Before the Public Space Protection Order can be adopted, we would like to hear your views.
