This privacy notice is designed to help you understand how and why the education and skills team, children and young peoples service, processes your personal data in relation to the school organisation snap survey. This notice should be read in conjunction with our corporate privacy notice.
Who are we?
North Yorkshire Council are a ‘data controller’ as defined by Article 4(7) of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). Education and skills (children and young peoples service) undertake consultations and surveys on occasion, specifically where there are statutory requirements to do so. These consultations could cover a variety of situations however to ensure that duplicate surveys are not completed and to establish connections to the focus of the consultations, minimal personal information is collected. The feedback will be anonymised when reporting is undertaken.

Consultations will ask for feedback and opinions on various topics. We will collect the following personal information:
- name
- address
No special category data is being collected (for example, health information, etc.) and respondents are asked to not include any personal or special category data in the free text fields.
Why do we collect your personal information?
We collect information in the survey to ascertain respondents’ opinions and get feedback on various related topics.
Personal information is collected to ensure that the respondent has a local connection and a genuine interest in the survey and to ensure we do not receive duplicate survey responses. Personal Information will be deleted as soon as this check has been performed and only anonymous responses will be retained.
If any personal or sensitive information is provided in any of the free text boxes, even if there is a reminder not to do so, this information will also be anonymised before the data is analysed and shared.
Who do we share this information with?
Anonymised survey results will be shared within the council and with our members and the department for education, and included within public reports.

- Article 6(1)(e) – processing of personal data is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller
