Simpler recycling

Under new government legislation, from 31 March 2025 most businesses with 10 or more employees should have:

  • their food waste collected separately
  • dedicated containers for recyclable waste

Food waste collection service

We offer a food waste collection service to our commercial waste customers. You can contact us to discuss your options.

Separate recycling collection service

We offer a recycling service of the following items for customers in North Yorkshire to be compliant:

  • glass, such as drinks bottles and rinsed empty food jars
  • metal, such as drinks cans, food tins, empty aerosols, aluminium foil, aluminium food trays and tubes
  • plastic, such as rinsed empty food containers, bottles and cartons
  • paper, such as old newspapers and envelopes
  • cardboard, such as delivery boxes and packaging

For those businesses with less than 10 employees, you will need to collect your food waste separately from 31 March 2027. From this date, we will also be able to offer you a food waste collection service.

We aim to increase North Yorkshire recycling rates from 43% to 65% or more.
