Scarborough town centre footfall figures

We have footfall cameras at three different sites in Scarborough town centre to monitor the number of people who walk past. The camera sites are:

above 88 Westborough - camera one
above 28 and 62 Newborough - camera two
above 28 and 62 Newborough - camera three

The cameras calculate the number of people walking past and send this data to Springboard, a leading provider of locational performance insights. You can find out more on the Springboard website. Springboard sends us a report that shows the percentage change in footfall every month. We use this data to help us identify footfall trends in the town centre.

Understanding the footfall data

The following notes can help you understand the footfall data we get from Springboard:

The percentage change is based on the data from all three cameras added together.
Springboard follows the British Rally Championship calendar which uses complete weeks to make sure that the same days can be compared every week. In the British Rally Championship calendar every month is made from a set of full weeks. This gives you a calendar following this pattern:
- four week month
- four week month
- five week month
The year to date percentage change is the annual percentage change between January of the current year compared to the same period of the previous year.
The year on year percentage change is the percentage change for the current month compared to the same month in the previous year.
The month to month percentage change is the percentage change between the current month and the previous month.
